“There’s something incredibly rewarding about helping a fearful cat gain confidence and learn to trust. Watching those first cautious sniffs turn into a trusting lean or head bunt, and sometimes even seeing the cat curl up in your lap, reminds you why you do it. And you know that the impact is not fleeting, since fostering changes the trajectory of their life. It's the best feeling knowing that the time you spend bonding and playing with your foster cat is truly making a difference in their life!”

Lucky Cats

“The most common question I get from friends is, ‘How do you not get attached?’ I do get attached, of course! Cats really ground me in my home, and it is bittersweet to see each of them get adopted. However, I know I'm not the right owner for most of the cats I meet. In my current stage of life, I know I can't give the consistent love a cat needs in a forever home, so I do my best to give them lots of love while they stay with me.”

Brooklyn Buddies

“We love getting to know the individual personalities of each cat that comes our way. After fostering so many cats over the years we’ve learned that no two are alike. It’s so fun to see how different cats come into their own when they are given love and support in a stable environment, sometimes for the first time! From sassy to cuddly to cautious to curious, each cat has their own distinctive personality and it’s so fun to watch that shine through!”

X Marks the Spot

“Things my foster cat does that makes me happy are… Curling up on the couch next to me, zooming around the apartment, lounging on the high shelves, hunting virtual birds on Cat TV, deep rumbling purrs, chirps, meows, trills, and all manner of happy cat sounds, biiiiiiggggg streeetch, falling asleep next to me, greeting me at the door when I come home. So many things!

The satisfaction I get from helping out a cat is greater than whatever sadness comes with giving them up when they are adopted. Being a repeat foster is a lot of fun and I feel a sense of accomplishment with each cat that gets adopted.”

“We’ve fostered cats for Good Home since November 2023, as a hobby and enrichment for our lives, including for our own kitty. We are sympathetic towards the cause of kitties needing a loving and safe home and that’s why we foster, even when there were (and will be) difficult times for us to say goodbye to a good cat.

It’s a special bond between an animal and a human. When they respond to you offering a treat/playtime/pets and scratches, it’s the most magical feeling when they reward you with their affection.”

Harding Family Cats

“My husband and I started fostering after the loss of our cat Pepper - we were not ready to commit to another cat but started to care for a community cat colony on our block and found that supporting them and helping them find loving homes was very healing. We have been fostering ever since and have adored every single cat we have gotten to meet, especially being a part of the unique moment in their lives when they may need a safe home to land during a transition, extra love or care, followed by the celebratory moment when they find their forever home.”

Furever Friend

“We absolutely love fostering and being able to support such a great cause - finding forever homes for these amazing creatures! Fostering cats has brought even more love and joy into our day to day. We have so much fun playing with them and cuddling with them and we’d like to think our fosters enjoy human companionship as well”.

Franklin Fosters

"I will never forget the first time I made one of my foster kittens purr. It was the most incredible feeling, especially since this foster kitten was very timid and a tough one to crack. One of the most heartwarming moments, too, is when my foster kitten(s) or cat(s) finally feel comfortable and safe enough to seek out affection. Whether it’s curling up next to me when I’m going to bed or asking for play, those moments are priceless".

"I foster because I want to have cats in my life, but am still at a stage where I’m moving a lot and taking long trips. Fostering gives me the flexibility to learn how to take care of cats, love some cats and fit it all into my schedule. I love having cats that my friends are excited about (even if they don’t come out lol). It’s an automatic way to decrease stress and increase happy hormones. I love when I’ve gained enough of their trust for them to come cuddle with me and to be silly with them even for a few minutes. With Good Home Pet Adoptions, you get a lot of support so if you’re considering fostering but don’t have experience, it’s a wonderful place to start. You are doing a good thing that also brings you joy".
